TD Surface Stain and Seal

FAQ

The questions we get on most quote calls. If yours is not here, give us a call: (217) 697-9527.

Deck staining

How long does deck stain last?

Three to five years on most decks, depending on sun exposure. South-facing fades faster than shaded.

Do you brush or spray?

We brush every deck by hand. Spraying lays the product on top of the wood instead of working it in.

Can you stain a brand-new deck?

Yes, often within a week of construction, as long as the moisture in the wood reads right. We test in 15 to 20 spots.

Do you do touch-ups?

Yes. We walk the finished deck with you, mark spots to touch up, and come back within a week to handle them.

Fence staining

How long does fence stain last?

Three to five years, same as decks, depending on sun exposure and the side of the property.

Do you stain both sides?

When access allows, yes. Some fences only let us work one side because of neighbor boundaries; we note that in the quote.

How soon can you stain a new fence?

Often within a week, as long as the moisture is right. We test before applying anything.

Concrete staining

Transparent or solid?

Transparent shows the natural concrete veining and texture. Solid gives one uniform color. We bring samples on the estimate visit.

Do you do epoxy?

No. We do stain and seal finishes on garage floors but we do not install epoxy systems.

Do you do driveways?

No, we do not sealcoat driveways.

General

How long does the job take?

Most decks and fences finish in two or three days. Concrete projects vary based on square footage and prep.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, 30 to 45 percent to lock in the start date and order materials. Balance due on completion.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash and check.

Are the products safe for pets and plants?

Yes. Everything we use is OSHA-graded, low-VOC, and safe around pets and vegetation once dry.

Where do you work?

Springfield IL and most towns within 30 miles. Full service area here.
