How to seal a garage floor without epoxy
Published Jun 30, 2026
Epoxy is the default people reach for on garage floors, but it is not the only option, and for a lot of garages it is not the right one. Epoxy peels when it bonds to a slab that was not properly profiled or that has moisture coming up through it. The fix is harder than the original install.
The alternative we use is a high-quality concrete stain and sealer system. Surface prep first: grind or etch, clean, condition. Then we apply stain or coating depending on whether you want transparent or solid color. Then we seal with a sealer designed to handle vehicle traffic and tire pickup.
The finish is durable, looks good, and is easier to recoat down the road than epoxy. If a section gets damaged, we can spot-repair without redoing the whole floor.
If you are set on epoxy, we are not your contractor. If you want a stained and sealed garage floor that lasts, give us a call.
